Facial Enhancement through Acupuncture

Facial Enhancement Acupuncture is an exciting, effective and safe way to treat both the internal and external at the same time.

What can it treat?

Externally
Facial Enhancement Picture Fine lines can be entirely eliminated and deeper wrinkles diminished. Puffiness around the eyes eliminated and bags under the eyes reduced. Droopy eyelids lifted. Jowls firmed, double chins and large pores minimised, muscle tone firmed and local circulation of blood and lymph improved. Collagen production and skin elasticity increases, eyes brighten, skin starts to glow, become more moisturised and look radiant.

Internally
As Facial Enhancement Acupuncture works along the same principles of Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) to acupuncture given for treatment of specific diseases, it will treat the whole bodies health, not just the face. The underlying root factors that contribute to your individual ageing process will be treated. Patients often report an increase in general well-being and energy levels. Others find that ongoing medical problems are starting to improve and often wish to carry on acupuncture treatment for those problems when their course of cosmetic acupuncture has finished.

Is it Safe?
After a course of treatment the improvement is usually very noticeable and frequently commented on by friends and family.

Facial Enhancement Acupuncture is an excellent and safe alternative to cosmetic surgery. Whilst it is not possible to reshape a nose, chin or mouth with this treatment, it can take years off your appearance and improve overall health with no risk of disfigurement, trauma, scars or problems with healing. Occasional slight bruising or redness may occur after treatment, which usually lasts a few hours and then disappears. Most people experience no side effects from Facial Enhancement Acupuncture.

How many treatments?
Its up to you really. One treatment will give your skin a boost, add colour to your face and make you feel good (ideal for before that special celebration or for a pampering session), 5 6 treatments (given weekly or twice weekly) will give longer lasting effects. For optimum results a course of ten treatments (given weekly or twice weekly) followed by occasional top ups can prolong the results.

Is treatment suitable for anyone?
Facial enhancement acupuncture is contraindicated for those with pituitary disorders, some heart disorders, diabetes mellitus, high blood pressure, individuals who have a pacemaker and those who suffer from excessive bruising or bleeding. It is also best not to treat during pregnancy, a bout of cold or flu, an allergic attack or a herpes outbreak. It is still possible to receive some of the benefits of cosmetic acupuncture for those who fall in any of these groups though by using massage and alternative techniques.

What happens in a treatment?
At the start of treatment a few questions covering medical history, prescribed drugs, allergies etc will be asked to determine the best treatment for you. Acupuncture needles will then be inserted into various points on your face and specific problem areas can be concentrated on in detail if you wish. After roughly 20 minutes the needles are removed and you will be given a moment to relax. Total treatment time is about an hour.

Will it hurt?
Whilst you may have more needles than a standard acupuncture treatment they are inserted quite shallowly and virtually painlessly. In addition to this I use acupuncture anaesthesia points on your arms to ensure a pleasant experience. Previous recipients have commented, it hurts more to get my eyebrows waxed or plucked than this does. Most people find it a pleasant and deeply relaxing treatment.

Also unlike Botox injections or a facelift there is no recovery or healing time needed afterwards, as the body has not been injured.

How much will it cost?
Individual treatment will cost 50 per session.

Discounts are available for courses of treatment when paid in advance. Courses of six paid in advance cost 280. Courses of ten paid in advance cost 450.

Will it work?
In short the answer is yes. Of course you wont get quite the same tight look of facelift surgery but for many people this is a bonus. Most people who come for facial enhancement acupuncture want a natural looking improvement and not the false pinched look of surgery.

After just one treatment many people see and feel their face muscles and skin are tighter and their face glows more brightly. After a course of treatment the improvement is usually very noticeable and frequently commented on by friends and family. Whilst it may take more treatments for certain individuals than others due to individual condition and lifestyle before treatment, a recent study found that among 300 cases treated with facial enhancement acupuncture, 90% had marked effects with one course of treatment (International Journal of Clinical Acupuncture 1996).

The extra advantage is that not only will your face look better but you will feel better inside too as at each session you are receiving treatment for yourself internally as well as externally. Increased circulation is known to help the body look and feel better and it makes common sense to treat the underlying causes of ageing, instead of masking the outward symptoms and allowing decline and dysfunction to continue inwardly. Facial enhancement acupuncture is a fantastic way to do this.
